Our Second Promise to You: Meal Plan Flexibility
Did you know that undergraduates and graduates have very different meal plan options? While undergraduates who live in dorms are required to be on meal plans with a weekly number of swipes that are lost if they go unused at the end of the week, graduate students have the option to purchase meal swipes in block. We will work with R&DE to allow undergraduate students to have a block meal swipe option available to them that mirrors the current graduate dining options, whereby students can purchase a block of meal swipes to use throughout the year rather than meal swipes on a weekly basis. Those swipes can also be used to swipe others into dining halls rather than having a limited number of guest swipes every quarter, giving students greater flexibility to bring visiting family or friends into the dining halls and reducing the number of wasted meals, especially for students who can’t eat at campus dining halls. It would also create easier opportunities for meal donations, which in conjunction with a campus food bank would improve food security for staff as well as students.
